The Story

The Instacube is a digital photo frame for your Instagram photos. My team launched the project on Kickstarter in August 2012 and the project raised over $600,000 in funding. I helped rebrand the Instacube, design its website and designing the packaging and instructions.

Instacube Website Design

The website was designed to educate users about the product’s functionality and capture pre-orders. I tried to achieve these two goals while keep Instacube’s retro, social image central to the website user experience. I used WordPress  with HTML and CSS to customize the theme and web pages. Packaging Design

The “open box” experience is a great first impression of any product. We wanted to design packaging that was ergonomic, but did not add any extra weight and fit the cube shape well. We chose a recyclable cardboard material, which was very light and fit the retro design of the cube. The cardboard also was hardy enough to prevent any damage to the device when shipped. Additionally, I designed a paper sleeve that held the box together and included a photograph of the product. This was important for branding/marketing purposes because it was the first product of its kind to hit the market. The sleeve helped explain to customers what the product was and also helped it stand out on a store shelf.
